5 Matte Eyeshadow Palettes for Oily Lids!

*Written by Meghan Angelica Paul

Watching Youtubers like Jaclyn Hill blend her eyeshadow is something I can do for HOURS at a time.

Seeing a new palette being released in Sephora stores just makes my fingers twitch with anticipation to swatch those buttery pigmented shades and oh-so-shiny metallics for that POP of colour!

But the only problem now I always struggle with is the fact that I have OILY LIDS and I crease like an oil slick.

If you have the same problem and have no idea which which palette to buy; honey, look no further, I got your back!

First thing to remember, always and I mean ALWAYS use a primer. This is a holy grail, must have step for us oily-lid people aside from always leaning towards matte eyeshadows!

Here are 5 matte eyeshadow palettes that you can consider:

1. Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette. RM250, Available at Sephora.

Let’s face it, all you make-up lovers out there knew this was coming. How could you not? This is one of the best, most versatile, neutral, ALL MATTE eyeshadow palette out there. It is however a bit on the pricey side but trust me when I say, this is worth investing in.

2. Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette. RM175, Available at Sephora.

If you like tones that are heavy on the mauve, then this is the palette for you. An absolute joy to play around with and you can choose the lighter shades for daytime and darker shades for night but if you’re a rebel and wish to use darker shades during the day then hey, we ain’t judgin’!

3. Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette, RM120, Available at Sephora.

Want something smaller and travel friendly? Take this 6-shade matte neutral palette with you everywhere, it fits perfectly in your handbag and you can touch up anytime and even add some definition to your eyes if there’s a last-minute cocktail party with the girls!

4. SilkyGirl Double Intense Duo Eyeshadow, RM17.27, Available at Watsons.

If you’re a beginner and just want to experiment with eyeshadows, get this duo. It’s cute and wallet-friendly, plus they offer a fun colour selection. This is for those who don’t dare to venture out to ‘bigger’ palettes, SilkyGirl has got you covered! Apply the lighter shade all over your lid as a base and the darker shade in the outer V of your eye to give it some definition!

5. Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette. RM40.45, Available at Sasa

Another wallet-friendly option that has amazing and fun pops of colour! This is the perfect palette if you’re venturing into bright colours and don’t want to buy a big palette that can be intimidating. At an affordable price, you get very pigmented and buttery COLOURED eyeshadows!
