There’s a familiar trend sprouting around Kuala Lumpur recently and we’re here to welcome Resto Bars back into our weekend agendas. Read up on our recommended brunch spots in KL and PJ here!
If the term sounds foreign to you, it basically means exactly what it sounds like – the perfect union between a restaurant and bar. Whether they’re combined into one space or separated into sections that are designated for dining and drinks, it makes planning a night out a lot easier. Gather all your besties in one place and let the conversations flow over delicious dishes before hopping over to check out the bar menu.
We can’t deny that having a no-fuss iced cold beer with a bowl of potato chips on the side is the epitome of comfort, but if you’re feeling like adding an extra twist to a special occasion, give our recommended Resto Bars below a taste or two.
1. BETA KL
Get your tasting palate at the ready because one visit to Beta takes you on a journey across all states, from appetizers through the dessert selections. In Greek, the word ‘Beta’ means two which represents the establishment’s second outlet, first being Skillet At 163 in the same building. Whereas in the Malaysian context, it’s a royal salutation for Kings and Sultans which means ‘I’ and rest assured the service and curated menu will make you feel like royalty.
Executive Chef Director, Raymond Tham is determined to push boundaries of local cuisine by uplifting well acquainted flavours with unexpected creative presentation. Some of #TeamCLEO’s favourites include the Inverted Karipap (RM30), Winged Beans (RM27), Scallops (RM60) and Bird’s Nest (RM80). Don’t sleep on trying each course on the menu, the portions are meant to be shared (Malaysian style!) and cue for the “oohs” and “aahs” as food roll out from the kitchen.
The bar area is designed to replicate authentic Chinese medicine cabinets, and there’s no way you can miss it upon entry. Each signature concoction on the menu is intricately made by experienced bartenders you may be able to recognise from other renowned establishments in the past.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12PM – 3PM for Lunch and 5PM – 1AM for Dinner
