On normal days of the year, it's easy to just pop a Mentos when our breath is not smelling its best. Most people assume eating food that are pungent would be the biggest cause of bad breath but actually not eating does the exact same thing.
Missing out on meals, especially while fasting is an easy route to experience halitosis which is caused by a dry mouth. Lack of saliva means bacteria isn't being rinsed out of the mouth as well as it should, hence why people have been taking a step back whenever you're talking too close to their face.
