You have “nothing to wear” but your closet looks like a scene from Hoarders. Use these rules to throw out your old, unwanted crap for newer, much-wanted chic!
1. Take your time
Have your girlfriends over, put on some music and get started on the mimosas because things are about to get real serious, real soon.
2. Take everything out
Yes, we mean it. Every. Single. Item. Bring ’em out and stack ’em up.
3. Divide and conquer
Arrange all your dresses, jeggings, tops, bottoms, underwear, jackets and accessories into separate piles. It’ll help if you’re on drink number two.
4. Hang it high
Hang the items you absolutely want to keep, so you can see everything you own in one cursory glance.
5. No maybes
Ask yourself: Do I love this thing? If the answer is anything less than a solid, 100 per cent “Hell yes”, throw it immediately in the “Nope” pile. Be decisive; take control of your hard-won closet space.
6. From the ground up
Use of your floor space creatively. Line your shoes under your clothes or get a rack for your bags.
7. From the back door
Over-the-door shoe bags can be used to store socks, scarves, gloves and accessories. More pockets, less mess.
8. Get new hangers
New hangers can easily give your wardrobe a new look. And don’t you just love it when everything is oh-so-neat and uniformed?
9. Labels are important
Use garment organisers to separate your clothes into categories – seasons, occasions, inspos, etc.
