Korean beauty products are all the rage here in Malaysia and for very obvious reasons. Everyone wants to have skin like Korean actress/model Song Ji-hyo so naturally we would gravitate towards K-beauty products.
However, it has come to our attention that Amorepacific is recalling certain beauty products from certain Korean beauty brands and everyone has got their panties in a twist. Why? The Korea Food and Drug Administration have said they discovered excessive amounts of antimony in 13 products produced by Amorepacific’s local ODM cosmetics maker Hwasung Cosmetic. Antimony is a heavy metal content that can cause sicknesses, such as eye irritation and gastrointestinal disorder.
We are here to tell you to calm down cause here in Malaysia, we’re safe. Yes, that’s right – safe! Before you start throwing away all your Etude House products and crying at all the money you’ve spent on them, read what we have to say.
Upon reading this news, #TeamCLEO spoke to a representative from Amorepacific. Ms. Tin Yen, Marketing Manager of the ETUDE Divison in Malaysia said this:
The Etude House branch in Malaysia is not and have not been selling the affected items in store. So it is safe to say that we, Malaysians are not affected unless you have purchased the items overseas.
They have also put up a notice on their website that looks like this:
Note: For those of you who have purchased the affected products overseas, don’t worry. You can return them to the Etude House outlet in Sunway Pyramid. If it is not convenient for you to do so, you may courier the product(s) to the Amorepacific office with your details and upon confirmation, they will refund your money.
