Luqman Juhari, 25, Co-Founder of So.Lek Cosmetics
Luqman Juhari makes up one half of our favourite local cosmetics brand, So.Lek along with his sister #SiblingGoals. While he makes his mark in the beauty industry, Luqman wishes that people would be less judgmental towards each other and look beyond what’s portrayed on social media.
What gets you up in the morning?
The need to get the best parking spot at work! Jokes aside, success is defined by how much a man has become the person he expects himself to be, and to the people around him. In the next 5 years, I want to be able to give my family whatever they want, whenever they want it.
Toughest lessons since you’ve started SO.LEK?
That everyone’s ‘rezeki’ has been set and whatever comes or goes, that is exactly what has been planned by Him for you but of course, your own hard work goes a long way. That, and to always trust your gut.
Of what are you most afraid?
My sister leaking photos of me testing our cosmetics products.
The way how people look at other people. People nowadays are too judgmental and so obsessed with “likes”, and “followers”, but we shouldn’t lose the human ‘touch’ or forget we are all equal. #TeamLove
– Luqman on the one thing he would change in the world.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Read anything. Everything.
What’s the most rebellious thing you’ve ever done? Paint us a brief picture.
I watched an “18+ only” movie at the cinema when I was 17.
Is there anything you’d change about yourself?
I always learn from my mistakes so every single morning, I’d ask myself, “How I can be better than yesterday?” And as Steve Jobs once said, “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m about to do today?”
