Amelia Tan, 30, Co-Founder of 100% Project
The lack of resources is a big problem plaguing our education system, and the 100% Project raised RM250,000 for 25 projects, impacting approximately 7,000 students across Malaysia. Monetary gains aside, this platform encourages the public to actively participate in pushing for the progress of the education system.
Tell us a little bit about what you do.
I co-founded a crowdfunding platform for classrooms in need. 100% Project helps remove the barriers teachers face in providing the best learning experience for their students, by allowing people to discover and directly support impactful classroom projects.
What is it like to have other people look up to you as a role model?
I’m not sure if people actually do look up to me but if I’m able to inspire others to take on a cause they’re passionate about, I’d be happy as a clam.
Who or what inspires you to be the person you are today?
Definitely my parents.
How can we make education more sustainable?
Education is a collective responsibility. When we all play a role in moving it forward, that’s when we can enhance our education landscape.
Where do you see 100% Project in five years?
I hope that people will associate the brand as one of the biggest champions for education.
