Shara Azlin Binti Jalil, 30, Assistant Director, Department of Civil Aviation
Shara Azlin Jalil broke the glass ceiling when she was announced as one of the first female pilots in Malaysia, and her career has only soared to greater heights since. After nine years in the cockpit, Shara has turned her attention to the Department of Civil Aviation to make a different kind of change.
If you could fly anywhere today, where would it be?
Greenland! I have always wanted to go there.
What was your journey like to get to where you are today?
My journey has never been easy. But I have always believed in myself, and I keep in mind that I am so lucky in many ways and I should be grateful.
Have you always wanted to be a pilot?
Nope! I remember wanting to be a chef at 15 years old.
When have you been the most satisfied in your life?
That time when I climbed and reached the peak of a mountain. The satisfaction is beyond words.
