The #RealBeauty campaign by Dove is nothing new to loyal customers – it’s been going on for the past 10 years! But as soon as I watched the video that has the internet spiralling down a meme-hole, it definitely missed the right notes of their initial intension of embracing diversity (I hope?). The ad promotes its latest limited-edition range of Real Beauty Bottles available in the U.K. So people especially women can stroll peacefully down a shopping isle at the supermarket and be troubled with the decision to pick up a bottle which is supposed to be the shape that suits you? Hmm, seems like it’s falling short and unintentionally out of touch coming from such an iconic campaign.
Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
From curvaceous to slender, tall to petite, and whatever your skin colour, shoe size or hair type, beauty comes in a million different shapes and sizes. Our six exclusive bottle designs represent this diversity: just like women, we wanted to show that our iconic bottle can come in all shapes and sizes, too.
But seems like the internet thinks otherwise…
