We all gotta take a break once in awhile to enjoy the great outdoors. If you’re not an outdoorsy person, then at least get out there and do it for the instapost, man! Breathe that fresh air, bask in the scenery and nature around you and switch off for awhile. You need to #GetOutside.
Don’t know where to go? Here are my favourite hiking spots and a little taste of what you can expect.
Broga Hill
Difficulty level: Medium to Hard
This highly depends on your fitness. There are different peaks that you can aim for so it’s not all bad really. I went on a Wednesday morning at 5AM to hike up to the peak to try and catch the sunrise. And guess what? First ones to reach up there. Climbing Broga Hill to start of your day? Winning. Disclaimer: Personally, I think climbing in the night (with a torchlight) is way better as you don’t get put off by seeing the actual height of what you are trying to conquer.

Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve
Difficulty level: Easy to medium
I found it really difficult but that’s only because I did this right after climbing Broga Hill. I’m not entirely sure why I thought it was a good idea – I was probably high from the adrenaline rush of having climbed the peak of my first hill. My legs were already in jelly mode but I was adamant I wanted to spend my day fully in the outdoors.
There are different trails you can follow through the reserve that’ll ultimately lead you to a waterfall. In fact, if you explored further like I did you’ll find many more hidden gems…

… An extra half hour to 45 minute hike from the waterfall and you may find yourself a secluded lil spot.
A little secret for you – I THINK this secluded spot is actually prohibited to outsiders as it’s preserved by a University. But, we had a little adventure and we couldn’t resist the beautiful lagoon and the cool pool was calling our names after a long a$$ hike.

Fifty4Ferns
Difficulty Level: Easy
This may be a resort but the activities you can do are endless! A stunning place that is only 45 minutes out of Kuala Lumpur, I only went to go hiking but wished I had stayed overnight here! #OneWithNature
The hiking trail is much easier than the others on this list and it leads you to a beautiful waterfall. Be prepared for friendly fish!
