As much as it pains me to admit, being obsessed with Gigi Hadid is something of a norm in 2016. She’s got a great sense of humour, sassy, and is physically flawless from head to toe! We expected nothing less when we anticipated her look for the AMAs, and it’s safe to say that she did not fall short.
Lucky for us at CLEO, we’ve got some major hookups, and an insider who did Gigi’s hair, gave us some pro-tips on how you can recreate the look!
For her red carpet entrance, Gigi wore a delicate lace Cavalli gown, that had a 70s bohemian vibe. Inspired by Lauren Hutton’s brushed back curls, the stylist was set on reflecting Gigi’s styled hair to the retro sultriness of her gown.
“To get a lot of volume, I used the ghd Air Hairdryer and the ghd Natural Bristle Radial
Brush (size 4), blowing out her hair up and away from her face. Once it was dry, I sprayed some thickening spray, and backcombed it through. Since we wanted big voluminous curls, I used the ghd Soft Curl Iron to curl her hair. The one and a quarter inch barrel creates nice, bouncy curls, which was exactly what we were going
Once her hair was curled, I brushed her hair back to soften the look, giving it a more relaxed vibe. I teased the top for a little extra volume, and used the ghd Platinum Styler to touch it up and get rid of any flyaways. Then, I set it all with hairspray, and we were out the door for her big red carpet reveal.”
