From the Rio 2016 Olympics’ soundtrack to Star Trek Beyond’s theme song, these female singers are rocking the music world with these new tracks!
Sledgehammer (Star Trek Beyond theme song), Rihanna
RiRi continues to reign with her latest summer single which is featured in the newly released Star Trek Beyond’s third theatrical trailer and the movie was released on 22nd July 2016. Beneath the powerful vocals delivered by Rihanna as expected, the ballad was co-written by Sia. If you have heard this track before, it must come to no surprise as Sia’s style comes off strong and it undeniably adds a dramatic tone to the trailer in contrast to the laidback vibe of the first trailer of the film featuring “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys.
M.I.L.F. $, Fergie
Global pop icon Fergie says the concept for her latest hit, “M.I.L.F. $” was created in hopes to empower mothers all around the world to balance motherhood, career life and also their sacred “me” time. It’s a fun and flirty tune – perhaps a little naughty too but as Fergie said, “there’s nothing wrong with that!”. The highlight of this single has got to be the eye-catching music video featuring cameos by Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, Ciara, Devon Aoki and more cast as powerful, beautiful M.I.L.F.s or Moms I’d Like To Follow. Fergie believes that in changing the acronym, it empowers and elevates women who do it all, breaking off from social standards which tell moms what they should be and what they shouldn’t be. Stay in the loop for the extended version of the video, it’s going to be milky!
Rise, Katy Perry
“Rise” expresses a powerful message of hope, an anthem of conviction, perseverance and transformation. Perry worked alongside NBC Olympics to make it the perfect soundtrack for the 2016 Rio Olympics’ Opening Ceremony. Along with empowering lyrics, the pop star delivered inspiration-heavy visuals for her Olympic anthem.
Cool Girl, Tove Lo
Swedish pop star Tove Lo proves to the world once again that she’s a cool girl with this hypnotically sexy catchy tune, as a first taste of her upcoming sophomore album which doesn’t have a release date yet, so keep your eyes peeled. She was inspired by the movie ‘Gone Girl’ specifically in the monologue where it talks about girls faking themselves just so they can be portrayed as ‘cool’ in the eyes of their love interest. This inspiration from the film sprinkled with her own sensual feminine persona makes ‘cool girl’ effortlessly smooth.
Where My Love Goes, Lawson
Platinum-selling rock pop band Lawson returns with their brand new heartwarming single “Where My Love Goes” as an introduction to their new album “Perspective” which was released earlier in July. The track is one of the most romantic songs, without being too over the top too cheesy. Lawson also released an incredibly moving music video which documents the lead singer, Andy getting down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend where she was lured into coming to the set thinking she would be taking pictures behind the scenes for the video.
