Hana Tajima For UNIQLO Collection Is Now On Exhibit At MoMA

The first fashion design exhibition by MoMA since 1944 presents Items: Is Fashion Modern?

In highlight of 111 influential garments and accessories that has made a prominent effect on the world over the last century, Hana Tajima for UNIQLO apparel has been handpicked to take part.

The partnership between the Japanese brand and New York-based, British-born designer Hana Tajima first made its debut appearance in 2015 during the launch of their fall/winter collection in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. A year after it was spread across to the U.S., U.K. and the Philippines for Spring/Summer 2016.

Specific items that have been chosen are the Hana Tajima for UNIQLO AIRism Printed Stole and Hana Tajima for UNIQLO AIRism Inner Hijab for the modesty-themed section. The hijab items employ AIRism which is a unique breathable fabric designed by the brand to enhance comfort with cooling properties. The whole collection is intended to appeal women from all backgrounds in life, regardless of age, race, religion or beliefs.

The exhibition is now open for the public from October 1st to January 28th 2018. You can check out the introductory conversation on the opening of the exhibition by MoMA director Glenn Lowry and curator Paola Antonelli below.
