Although freckles have been called beauty marks for the longest time, society has somehow convinced itself that these unique spots are considered “blemishes”; no more, I say! We here at cleo are all about celebrating diversity of different magnitudes – yes, freckles are one of them.
No, we’re not asking you to over expose yourself to some UV rays just to stimulate pigment growth (unhealthy eeeeek)! We’re simply giving you some tips on how you can achieve these cute little spots on your desired body part.
What do we need?
Use tones of browns when creating the illusion freckles. If you like, you may even use up to two shades of brown eyeliner, as freckles naturally vary with how dark or light they are.
Let your man made freckles be the star – opt for a simpler and cleaner look when finishing. Use nude or more natural shades of lippies, and complete with a slick of gel winged eyeliner.
Can we start yet?
Wash your face! Always start your makeup routine with a fresh template. Remove any residue of makeup you may have forgotten the night before (no judgements, but so bad for your skin!) and tone and moisturise as per your usual do.
Apply your base of foundation or primer before you start your dot work. This step is actually optional, depending on whether you’d usually include this on your day/night out! We’d recommend using a primer though, just to ensure your freckles last longer.
Using Chanel’s Style Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner, start dotting the bridge of your nose. If you’d like a more subtle look, you can seclude your dot work to just that one area.
If you’d like a bolder freckled look, continue your dot work outward onto your cheeks, toward your ears. You may even expand the coverage area of your dot work to your forehead if you prefer.
If you’re using two shades of eyeliner, be sure to not overdo the freckles with your first darker shade.
Using your index fingers, slightly “smudge” or soften your dot work. You may do this by pressing your fingers down on your faux freckles, and (very, very lightly) pulling at your skin. Think of it as the mildest face massage you’d ever have!
Finish off your faux freckles with Chanel’s Natural Finish Loose Powder in your shade of choice, and a simple lip and eye look!
