Some of our favourite stars such as Kylie Jenner and Katy Perry have popularised wigs in recent years, making way for a whole new generation of girls who wore them as accessories not unlike how we throw on statement necklaces and ring stacks.
Pirates of the Caribbean actress Keira Knightley, however, wore them for different reasons. “I have dyed my hair virtually every colour imaginable for different films,” the Hollywood star told InStyle UK. “It got so bad that my hair literally began to fall out of my head!”
From being a redhead to going blonde, from sporting curls to boasting braids, Keira’s locks have certainly been through a lot in her 20 over years in the industry, and garnered massive damage accordingly. Her solution? Wigs.
“So for the past five years I’ve used wigs,” she says, “which is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my hair.” Did she say five years? Who would have guessed that she had on wigs at all those red carpet events?
There was another thing that helped, which is the birth of her daughter Edie with husband James Righton. Some women are known to grow a thicker head of hair after pregnancy, and Keira here is one of the lucky ones. “I have naturally crazy, curly hair, and since I’ve had the baby it’s become 10 times thicker,” the 31-year-old revealed.
We say hey, whatever makes you feel better about those bad hair days!
