After taking the world by storm by being the only university to showcase its collections at the 2016 London Fashion Week, Limkokwing University is back with another treat for the public. For the first time ever, the world’s first fashion label by a university, Limkokwing Fashion Club, is introducing its exclusive “Raya Collection” at the 2017 Gaya Kreasi Raya showcase by Andrew’s Models and Fashion Valet.
The 12-piece collection portrays the element of diversity in Malaysia, which leads to the collection being named “Malaysian Soul”. The collection incorporates elements from three cultures in Malaysia, which are Indian-Malay, Malay, and Chinese-Malay as well as inspirations from various parts of Malaysia, such as Kedah.
Inspirations for the collection could also be traced back to the architectural elements in Malaysia, like the mosque dome and the stripes fabric that represent the signature prints of Malaysia. The artifacts of the design incorporate modern design and the heritage of the Malays. Meanwhile, the modern sign could be seen from the golden glitter and sequences used in the collection. The “Malaysian Soul” is available in black, glammed up with gold sequences to give it a more elegant, sophisticated, and classic vibes for the public.
The “Malaysian Soul” is a testament of Limkokwing University’s fashion students’ creativity as they managed to add a touch of glamour to the dresses. As an industry-driven University, Limkokwing University provides opportunities for students to absorb as many skills and knowledge as possible, proven by the chance for students to attend global classrooms at Limkokwing University’s London Campus, where they are exposed to global education and mindset, as well as the opportunities to meet and work together alongside the industry’s best.
