Meet CLEO Hot Shot 2018: Crystal Ng

Crystal Ng, 28, Founder of Ministry of Burn

Panelled dress, Cassey Gan.

Crystal Ng’s positive energy is highly contagious and as an experienced entrepreneur, her fourth venture with Ministry of Burn has been the most exciting thus far. Working together as part of an ecosystem for a healthier Malaysia, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or an experienced fitness freak because Crystal believes that her #MOBSQUAD has a strong sense of community that welcomes everyone with open arms.

Where does your motivation come from?

The people I meet every day. Whether we cross paths through the course of my day, or those who walk through the doors of Ministry of Burn after their long day at work, wanting to spend their precious time with us, inspires me to join them in this journey.

How do you answer the question of whether women lead differently than men?

Women and men are wired differently and that’s what’s great. Women lead with more compassion, and attention to detail. Men look to solve and resolve things immediately whilst women tend to look for solutions that take the collective greater good into consideration.

What role do you think you and your business play in pushing for progress in the sports industry? And how?

We are part of an ecosystem, and with other fitness providers, we play a role in collectively building the importance of health, fitness and all-round wellness. We motivate people to be better versions of themselves, inspire people to join us and assist each other regardless of their state of health as we believe in and work towards a greater, fitter, healthier Malaysia.

Nothing is impossible. Solutions might seem hard to come by initially, more often than not, we just need to take a step back, clear our minds and revisit it with an objective open mind.

– Crystal on the most important discovery she has made in the past year.

What is the worst setback you’ve faced in your career and how did you overcome it?

As an entrepreneur, setbacks are an everyday occurance, there is no one particular setback that is or was bigger or worse than the other. It’s how we face the situation, learn and move forward from it.

Who are some of the female athletes/ entrepreneurs who have inspired you the most? Why?

My mother, for her tenacity and determination and patience to put up, teach and inspire and live with me for the past 28 years. She, along with my dad, have both invested time, knowledge, patience, guidance, and all-around support for everything I’ve wanted to do.

Special thanks to Alila Bangsar for venue assistance during the whole production.
