Music lost a substantial talent today, Dolores O’Riordan the frontwoman of iconic Irish grunge band – The Cranberries, died at the age of 46 in her London home early Monday morning.
Lindsey Holmes, the publicist, issued an official statement to The Limerick Leader which said “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today” and the cause of death has yet to be revealed.
The Cranberries were formed in 1989 and O’Riordan was made lead singer a year after. Other members include Noel Hogan on guitar and his brother Mike Hogan on the bass. Not to forget Fergal Lawler on the drums.
We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today.

Many influential figures across the globe have taken to social media in honour of Dolores and pay their last respects to the musical legend. Those including Michael Higgins, President of Ireland with the following statement:
“Dolores O’Riordan and The Cranberries had an immense influence on rock and pop music in Ireland and internationally. I recall with fondness the late Limerick TD Jim Kemmy’s introduction of her and The Cranberries to me, and the pride he and so many others took in their successes. To all those who follow and support Irish music, Irish musicians and the performing arts her death will be a big loss.“
Other artists and fans who are shocked by the tragic news have expressed their sadness and bid their last goodbyes to the Irish Songbird:
My first time hearing Dolores O'Riordan's voice was unforgettable. It threw into question what a voice could sound like in that context of Rock. I'd never heard somebody use their instrument in that way. Shocked and saddened to hear of her passing, thoughts are with her family.

One of my fondest memories of the last few years was playing a BC show on the rooftop of a hotel in Cabo and then crashing the house bands set with “Zombie” while Payton Manning was hanging in the audience (lol) RIP Dolores, your voice always got me good ? pic.twitter.com/WoeGhM8zCt
