Rapunzel would have been proud of this new Instagram video trend.
It’s known as the #bundrop and we have to warn you beforehand that it will probably put you in a bout of hair envy. Girls with long (some really long) locks are creating videos of themselves letting loose their top buns to have their hair cascade down in marvellous ripples. All this in slow-mo, of course, to make each one look like a professional hair commercial.
Almost-unreal hair is released in a variety of ways, from hairbands to pins and even chopsticks. This seemingly mundane task is part of an everyday routine, but these girls have turned it into an art that became an internet craze. While some videos are silent, others get creative with music that is perfectly timed with the bun drop. When the beat drops, so does the bun!
Throughout the videos, only the girls’ backs are visible, but serious bun droppers have put thought into this – they showcase tops with pretty backs or scenic backdrops such as city landscapes or gardens that simply complete the hypnotic experience for viewers.
All this for our viewing pleasure, and view them we will because we know how much time, effort and patience (oh, the patience) is needed to grow our hair to that long! If you’ve already managed to defy time and grow your locks to bun-dropping lengths, go jump on the bandwagon and drop it like it’s hot!
