Growing up in a typical Asian household, there was always dinner and soup waiting for me at home. My siblings and I were blessed in every food sense – we were always able to find wholesome snacks whenever we wanted.
I’ve been living out on my own for a good two years now, and I never realised how good I had it with food in general, until of course, I had to fend for myself. Yeah, I’d attempt to eat healthy, but every time I’m at the grocer’s, I’d end up in the nonperishable and snack lanes.
As dense as this may make me sound, here’s why – I never knew just how fast things went bad! I’d leave vegetables in the fridge for about two weeks, and by the time I’ve decided to whip up something “healthy”, BAM, the broccoli’s lost its colour, and the mushrooms look like death.
I felt like it was such a major waste of money, especially because there wasn’t exactly a large margin of price difference with eating in or out. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle then became an issue.
That was when, I looked to my most trusted source of information, Google, which then turned me to Pinterest! It brought me to this neat little table, showing you the shelf life of different types of food. I thought it was rad asf, because it shows you how long food will actually last in different areas!
