Bringing back vampires way before Twilight, I still remember how obsessed I was with Sunndydale town and Buffy and Angel’s romance on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It was the OG forbidden fruit of onscreen romances and 13 year old Elyza was all over that. Not to mention the main heroine Buffy being a portrayal of young women kicking butt and saving the world.
Today we celebrate 20 years since the pilot airing in 1997 and share all the times Buffy The Vampire Slayer, well, slayed;
A master with a stake and her ability to out-move and ‘dust’ any vampire that came her way. Buffy was the epitome of an on screen heroine.
Our favourite love triangle – Team Spike or Team Angel?
For six seasons, viewers would eat up at the development of Buffy’s love life. A love triangle between Buffy and her broody vampire ally, Angel and bad guy turned good British mystery, Spike.
When Buffy spoke the truth
Who doesn’t love a bad boy turned good for love, right? We always knew Spike had a heart of gold and a mouth that would give us a run for our money.
Buffy’s ‘watcher’ turned school-librarian Giles was everything.
Because Giles was secretly all of our ‘watchers’ and imparting knowledge to us through Buffy.
The arrival of Faith in Sunnydale, another vampire slayer.
Clashing characters at the start but they end up working together to save the world.
Life advice from monsters
Well said, monster.
As people started becoming bored of 6 seasons of Buffy’s indecisiveness, the writers sparked up a girl to girl relationship into the show which people could argue was the greatest love story throughout. Willow and Tara shared the most stable and functional relationship throughout all of Buffy The Vampire Slayer romances.
