Every time you open that shiny white door (your fridge, duh), are you unwittingly flabbing up? We find our what’s weighing you down — or up, in this case.
1. Soft Drinks
Whether it’s a weekly bottle of Coke that you slip into your trolley or leftover soft drink from a recent part, sweet beverages are usually a kilojoule haven. “Soft drinks should only be a ‘treat food’ as they’re a nutritional time bomb”, says nutritionist Melanie McGrice. “They’re loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, and regular consumption of soft drinks can lead to obesity, type 2 diabetes, tooth decay, and even osteoporosis (as you’re less likely to drink milk).” Diet versions aren’t any better. Research shows that people who drink diet soft drinks are still more likely to be overweight than people who have water.
