As we wrote this, we wondered, is “shampooing” an actual word? (Quick check: It does exist. We’re all good.) And if you’re wondering how many ways can you shampoo your hair, you’ll be surprised. If you dread having to wash your hair (dry shampoo can only go so far, *cough* day four…) because your scalp feels like it’s incredibly stripped, then there are other ways to deal with de-gunking your hair and it doesn’t have to be shampoo, rinse, repeat anymore.
While you may still want to nourish your hair and keep it clean, you don’t want to strip your crown of glory of essential moisture. Try these ways to give you hair that’s good to go and see how far it gets you. And before dreading how weighed down your hair might get, hear #TeamCLEO out on the different ways of shampooing you have to try.
THE RIGHT WAY TO DRY SHAMPOO
Ahh, we live in modern times. Rather than having to actually wash hair, you can use a can of your trusty ol’ dry shampoo to skip several days between washes, and alleviating that hair-stink. But come day five and your scalp’s feeling irritated AF — what gives?
Well here’s the thing — you shouldn’t rely on it for more than two days, and target the oily spots instead of dousing your entire head in powder. When you have to shampoo, use a clarifying one to wipe-out all that product build-up.
Here’s our go-to rec for dry shampooing, it goes on light and still gives your hair that volume and lift that you wouldn’t naturally have on day 3.
