What Are Your Pimples Trying To Tell You?

*Written by Meghan Angelica Paul

Breakouts are absolutely horrible! Waking up with a pimple on your right cheek just makes you want to curl up in bed and hide the beast away!

It’s no secret that beauty is skin deep, but exactly how deep? Popping a pimple is not the best way to removing all the impurities in your body. In fact, if you’re squeezing them, STOP RIGHT NOW!

Have you ever wondered why your pimples only appear at a particular spot? I do. Pimples are constantly appearing on my cheeks and my temples. *cringe*

To be fair, I eat relatively healthy meals, sleep 6-7 hours every night and I drink a ton of water! Why are pimples still erupting like mountains all over?!

But breakouts that appear constantly in the same spot could be worrying. It tells you what’s going on in your body and how to fix em!

In an interview with Byrdie, Dr. Dan Hsu from NYC specialising in Eastern medicine, mentions how ‘face mapping’ is a technique used way back in the day when a doctor would diagnose a patient just by looking, touching and asking questions. Below is the list of the common causes of pimples on the various locations of your face according to the face mapping technique:

If you have a pimple in the middle of your forehead, you know it’s not hard to miss! The forehead is usually linked to your digestive system so you might have some trouble digesting certain foods!

Build up of sweat in that area will also cause a zit or two to pop out. Beware if you’re planning on snipping some bangs cause that will only irritate your forehead to produce a pimple.

In Between The Brows

Brows are frames of one’s face! Now that brows have been all the rage the past few years, thanks Cara Delevingne, everyone’s grooming and shaping them to achieve ‘brows on fleek’ status!

However, no one wants to see massive honker in the middle of your brows! If you’re partying a lil’ too hard with the booze and snacking on greasy food after, well there’s your problem! Cut back on the alcohol and greasy food; load up on the H2O!

The nose. A pimple here makes you look like Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer! Poor blood circulation causes a pimple to erupt on the nose and it ain’t pretty. It helps to consume less spicy food *cries*, alcohol and caffeine *cries even harder*!

On the bright side, cut open the avocados and enjoy some healthy natural fatty food!

Lip Area

A sexy pout can capture a man’s attention but not if you’ve got a bump above your lip!

Pimples around the lip area is the siren for the dreaded P.E.R.I.O.D. Your hormones are probably all over the place! Honestly there’s nothing you can do about this as we all know menstrual cycles are unavoidable. *grabs the hot water bottle*

Left Cheek

Breaking out on your cheeks is common! But different sides of the cheek have different issues. If you’re breaking out on your left cheek, eat some “cooling” food such as winter melon, cucumbers and whatnot. Avoid any over strenuous activities during the day and drink lots of water!

Right Cheek

The right cheek is connected to your lungs so do some deep breathing exercises in the morning. It helps to cut back on sweets, junk food and seafood!

This applies to both cheeks; change your bed sheets and pillow cases as often as once a week. If you spend most of your time talking on the phone, remember to clean it after every use!

Stress, stress and more stress! Greasy hair that’s constantly touching your temples would promote bacteria and BAM a zit pops out!

Stop touching your temples too, the bacteria on your fingers would also entice those tiny suckers to come out. Like the other parts of your face, water is the solution!

Chin & Jawline

Greasy food causes pimples around the chin and jawline! Uh-oh! Your chin and jawline are immediately connected to your stomach so turn to veggies and fruits instead. Keep gulping down bottles of water too, hun! Keep your environment clean and pimples will stay clear from this area.

If you have a severe case of acne or countless solutions just don’t seem to work for you, consult your nearest dermatologist. A specialist would be able to tell you what you need.
