Get ready for a three-day gathering for jazz and soul tribes, as TREC KL will host the 6th edition of the World Youth Jazz Festival 2017 in the opening weekend of May from May 5 to 7.
Expect to see, hear and groove to a diverse spectrum of the jazz genre from some 16 bands on one stage – both emerging and established musicians performing their virtuosic live sets – from Malaysia and around the region. World Youth Jazz Festival is organised by World Youth Festivals Management, and supported by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur [DBKL].
The live shows at TREC are set to light up the nights with peppery hard bob, pulsating tempos and musical improvisations that will set the keys ablaze, with rhythms laced with honeyed and soulful vocals.
The first artiste line-up of the festival includes Sophie Bright Quintet [London] • Diandra Arjunaidi [Malaysia] • Cabo Cuba Jazz [Netherlands] • Harry Toledo & The Turbulence Of Soul [Indonesia]. The second and final artiste line-up will be announced on April 10.
Orkestra DBKL will also make a special outing for this festival at TREC, as part of WYJF’s 2017 programme. The three-day festival will take place at TREC’s event space Quad, from evening till late.
* TREC KL will release the complete festival guide on social media on April 10 with the full and final line- up of artistes from around the region.
The festival guide will include F&B deals @ TREC, and a visitor guide to TREC’s 3-day artisan market Craft Army on May 5, 6 and 7 to be held at Hive and Rhapsody Square. Admission to both events is free.
