Alexa Chung falls into a rare breed of women. The kind that’s just born with *IT* (which also happens to be the title of her published book, It by Alexa Chung). No matter what she does, she dazzles. Her signature style usually includes a simple (yet on-point) getup, barely done hair and minimal makeup. Alexa is always effortlessly chic. Always.
When the news broke about a dedicated fashion line was set to launch, the word ecstatic didn’t even cut it. Although no stranger to the world of design, having collaborated with Madewell, Ugg, AG Jeans, Marks & Spencer to produce capsule collections, and not forgetting her existing beauty line with Eyeko; an introduction to her own independent label will be new, unchartered territory for me. And I can’t wait to dive into it.
The design mantra of her namesake line is “combining Parisian chic with a New York edge, as well as the very British sense of humour”, which is clearly seen in the debut fashion show held in a… chapel. Very cheeky, indeed!
A quick browse on the site and I felt like I was looking into Ms. Chung’s own wardrobe. The design aesthethic screams the Brit It Girl. Simple yet tailored wearable basics that you’d wear over and over again and quirky accessories for an added twist.
Ok, enough of me babbling. Pay day just came and I’m ready to burn some plastic. Here’s what’s on my covet list.
