Beauty Tips We Learnt From The Oscars Red Carpet

While there wasn’t a specific dress code at this year’s Oscars ceremony, celebs weren’t shy about showing off their support for equality via spirited speeches and tattoos (we see you, Emma Watson!).  A-listers traded their all-black ensembles for dazzling hues (metallics made a major splash) accompanied by some striking beauty looks.

#TeamCLEO gathered some intel from Marc Jacobs Beauty about recreating red carpet-worthy make-up for your next party (or, you know, for work tomorrow because life’s too short for bad make-up!).

✨ #Oscars Performer, #StVincent is #SoShameless on the #Oscars red carpet in Y110. Artist @nhinako_makeup used #MarcJacobsBeauty to create the stunning look.✨ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ “For St. Vincent’s red carpet look, we wanted to keep it timeless. The Oscar red carpet moment is forever, so it was important to capture the classic beauty and glamour, but still complement the strong shape of her dress. And for her performance, we wanted to really reflect that power that she displays in her music. I wanted her makeup look here to be representative of her uncompromising artistry and rock and roll vibe.” – @nhinako_makeup ⠀ ⠀ Products used to create the look:⠀ – Shameless foundation in Y110 for base and R230 for dimension ⠀ – #MarcGlowStick⠀ – #AirBlush in Lines & Last Night⠀ – Twinkle Pop Eye Shadow in Three Shakes⠀ – #Highliner in (Brown)i.e.⠀ – Eye-Coninc Palette in Provocouture⠀ – #VelvetNoir⠀ – #LeMarc in Rei Of Light

The Star: St. Vincent

The Makeup Artist: Hinako Nishiguchi for Marc Jacobs Beauty

The Trick: Hinako used the new Shameless Youthful-Look 24 Hour Foundation SPF 25 in the shade Y110 (RM220 at Sephora) in the centre of the face and then used a slightly darker shade on the perimeter of the face to create dimension. Next, she used the Shape Contour Brush (RM250 at Sephora) to pick up the Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator in Spotlight (RM224 at Sephora) and applied it generously to the cheekbones, temples, and bridge of the nose, all blended out with fingers. With The Blush-Angled Blush Brush (RM255 at Sephora), Hinako applies the Airblush Soft Glow Duo in Lines and Last Night (RM205 at Sephora) to St. Vincent’s cheek bones to add some warmth to the complexion. Want St.Vincent’s stunning statement pout? Do like she does and reach for Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Rei Of Light (RM125 at Sephora).

The Star: Janelle Monae

The Makeup Artist: Jessica Smalls for Marc Jacobs Beauty

The Trick: Jessica began with Janelle’s eye makeup, applying the Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Eye Primer (RM125 at Sephora) to ensure a “bullet-proof” lid that would withstand the evening’s festivities. She then applied Twinkle Pop Eyeshadow Stick in Au Revoir (RM115 at Sephora) all over the lid and 3 Shakes (RM115 at Sephora) in the center for a magical pop. Using the Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Scandalust (RM215 at Sephora), Jessica applied That’s Why in the crease and Little Miss on the outer corners for more depth. Jessica applied Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer (RM100 at Sephora) on Janelle’s waterline and blended it with Little Miss to diffuse and add drama. The eyes are then finished with lashings of mascara.

For lips, Jessica opted for the (P)outliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil in Oh, Cocoa (RM110 at Sephora) to line the lips before filling them in with New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Role Play (RM125 at Sephora). A touch of Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Love Buzz (RM120 at Sephora) on the centre created a juicy pout.
