11 Make-up Picks Inspired By Pantone’s Colour Of The Year 2019 “Living Coral”
So long Millennial Pink and Gen-Z Yellow (and no shade, but Ultra Violet, you never really took off), it’s time for a new hue to take over your Insta feeds. Pantone announced Living Coral as 2019’s Colour Of The Year. Described by Pantone as “a life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone”, Living Coral is definitely the perfect colour to rebel against all the dreary headlines gracing much of 2018.
In a time where DMs are practically our main form of communication, Living Coral feels welcoming but not cloying, optimistic without being overwhelming and as Pantone themselves put it, “humanising and heartening”. Much needed in an era where we’re constantly fighting against patriarchy, racism and everything else in between.
The colour also brings focus to our precious coral reefs which are currently under threat due to factors such as overfishing and pollution. According to Coral Reef Alliance, scientists predict all coral reefs will be threatened by 2050, but there are plenty you can do to help. Check out TRACC,Reef Check Malaysia and WWF to find out how.
On a happier note, Pantone’s announcement means great news for make-up lovers! While bold pinks and warm hues were constantly trending in 2018, coral have always stood the test of time. It’s a flattering, reliable colour that easily brings life to the complexion and looks dreamy as a wash of eyeshadow over the lids.
