Breathable Nail Polish: What’s Worth Buying
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with nail polish for as long as I can remember. For one, I absolutely adore beautiful, polished nails. Something about them screams “I’ve got my life together” and all my style/woman crushes are hardly seen without good nails. Violette! Princess Kate! Alex Steinherr! Emily Weiss! And don’t get me started on the booming nail art business. I’m following at least ten nail art accounts that never fail to take my breath away. Plus, I’m a sucker for cute nail polish bottles.
On the downside, since a lot of nail polishes weren’t water-permeable and I perform prayers whenever I can, getting my nails lacquered felt less than practical. Unlike slapping on some lippie and mascara, doing your nails is an actual process. You gotta sit and make sure it fully dries otherwise you’ll risk terribly painted nails and personally, I find no polish better than a bad polish job. Then you have to remove them for prayer ablutions and re-do them again. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
But! The beauty world is ever evolving and we now have plenty of water-permeable nail polish options on the market. Some are even certified Halal if that’s one of your concerns. I dipped my toes (and hands!) into breathable polishes from four different brands. Oh, and I’m hardly precious with my hands so these reviews are thoroughly well-tested. Read on to see who took the top spot!
Colour range: 5/5
Verdict: Launched by Sama Sama Spa, the nail polish comes with an impressive colour range. Unfortunately, it’s made of a peelable formula that’s really fragile and chipped off my nails within a couple of hours. If you don’t mind peelables, it’s a range that’s worth checking out. Plus, Sama Sama is a company that supports underprivileged women so your money is going to a good cause.
