CLEO Hot Bachelors 2018: Phor Yuen Soon
Phor Yuen Soon, 25, Pupil-In-Chambers
Phor Yuen Soon is a pupil-in-chambers, also known as ‘trainee lawyers’ to the public, at a corporate law firm in Kuala Lumpur. Aside from the serious side of his job, he has a passion for Olympic Weightlifting and reading war fiction books when he finds the extra time.
If you could create one law for Malaysia, what would it be?
It would be a law against whining or complaining more than three times a year, because people should learn to appreciate the little things in life.
As a lawyer, what would you like to use your voice and platform to represent?
Internet, or maybe social media, in the future. Mainly due to its accessibility. The legal profession is one of the oldest in the country and yet the public has minimal access to it.
What books have you been into lately?
It was “It’s Not About The Bike – My Journey Back To Life” by Lance Armstrong. After his whole doping incident, I was curious to know more about his life, up to that point.
When I made two perfectly roasted chickens for my friends – not just one, but two perfect birds. I think I know why they call me the chick magnet.
– Phor Yuen Soon on his proudest achievement.
Paint us a picture of your 5-year plan.
But I don’t even have plans for a Friday night.
What is something you’re most knowledgeable about?
Olympic weightlifting. I’ve always learnt better through physical movements or sports.
Is there anything you’d change about yourself?
I love sports but ironically, McDonalds too, especially for its golden McNuggets. I’d love to cut down the amount of McNuggets I consume every week or even, every day.
If you’re not working, we’ll most likely find you…
Reading, war fiction books or articles from Hodinkee, a great page for watch enthusiasts. Otherwise, I’ll spend my time with my Playstation 4. But most of the time, I’ll just meet up with my friends.
