CLEO Hot Bachelors 2018: Ramesh Weston
ramesh weston, 26, copywriter and graphic designer
As a firm believer that the best way to keep inspired as a creative is to be as childlike-minded as possible, 2018 has been nothing but a year of creation for Ramesh Weston. He’s a man of many talents with an eager attitude to always try new things and his next mission is to get involved in music.
What is your favourite thing to learn about in your free time?
Well, I was bored in the office yesterday, so I took my colleagues ukulele and learnt Riptide by Vance Joy – does that count?
How do you make sure you don’t burn out?
Is it bad that the first thing I thought of was ‘sleep’? A beer or two? Pizza? Rewatching Star Wars and Harry Potter? Okay no in all seriousness, inspiration can come from anywhere. I think the best way to keep inspired and creative is to be as childlike-minded as possible. That’s when you will get all the most ridiculous and interesting thoughts (even if they’re unbelievably dumb. Dumb is sometimes gold).
Whose career would you like to emulate?
I reckon pulling qualities from different types of people and creating your own Frankenstein mentor is the way to go. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?
2018 is the year of creation, at least for me. I’ve started a writing IG account, I want to start a YouTube channel, want to get back into photography. I want to somehow involve myself in music too even if it’s just designing album art or posters for gigs. I don’t want to say this, ‘New year new me’ bullshit – I’m the same me, I’m just tired of not doing what I like.
– Ramesh on his current passion projects.
Lunch or dinner dates?
Neither, because I’m all for brunch! You can never beat a big breakfast.
What makes a man?
His Y chromosome.
If you could visit any time period in all of history, what would it be?
The 70s! Some of the greatest rock bands of all time were out and about. Hip-hop, funk and jazz was climbing like crazy. Fashion was wicked. Waterbeds were popular. First ever Star Wars movie came out. Do I really need to go on? #flowerpower
A person who truly understands you would know that you’re a….
An idiot, but a loveable one, I hope! If I’m really being honest, I can admit that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I care a lil’ bit too much, especially about the people that mean the world to me.
