CLEO Hot Shots 2016: Meet Angeline Khor
Angeline Khor, 26, Founder of Cocolab
Combine the powers of coconut oil and skincare, and you’ll get Angeline Khor’s brainchild, Cocolab – an all-natural health supplement and skincare brand. With four retail outlets around the Klang Valley and plans to expand locally and internationally, Cocolab is set to be one of the top local skincare brands.
What are the challenges you’ve faced in the process of starting your own brand?
Jumpstarting an independent brand with a mission to promote natural healing and skincare was not an easy task during a time when it was all about quick fixes that bring more harm than good. There was a lot of product education involved back then, but thankfully the market has now begun to open up and embrace the concept of natural healing.
What is your proudest achievement since you started Cocolab?
We have opened 4 retail outlets and counting! But the rewarding part really comes from the customers’ healing experiences with our products, which drive us to work harder in making the brand better.
What’s the most important thing you’re working on right now, and how are you making it happen?
We are currently working towards creating a global presence and to have our products made available internationally. We are taking small but sure steps such as participating in international trade exhibitions to expand our name globally, as well as to strengthen our home ground image.
Who or what inspires you to be the person you are today?
My parents. They have taught me to be hardworking and to always believe in my work.
What do you do on your off days?
My off days are rare but whenever I do get a chance to take some time off, I would go on a short weekend getaway out of town just to rejuvenate myself.
