CLEO Hot Shots 2016: Meet Brindha Kumar
Brindha Kumar, 23, Illustrator
The ink on her degree from the London College of Communication has barely dried, yet this young illustrator is already drawing attention in the local art scene. Mixing colours and patterns, her bright and quirky artworks are a trademark of her unique style, giving us a glimpse of what she can offer the creative community.
Can you tell us about your styles of illustration?
I love everything colourful and that is reflected in my work. Whether it is a mix of different colours or patterns, my style is always fun, quirky, cheeky and full of interesting details.
What’s the inspiration behind your series “Girls”?
“Girls” came about as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and noticed how girls tend to post things related to their body image.
How do you overcome a creative block?
I would step away from what I’m doing and go somewhere to clear my mind.
What is your definition of success?
Success is when you feel like all your hard work is paying off in the best way possible. I’d know that I’ve achieved it when I constantly have clients contacting me for my illustrations.
What do you do on your off days?
I can’t seem to get away from drawing and painting even during my off days.
