CLEO Hot Shots 2016: Meet Farah Ann
Farah Ann, 22, National Gymnast
Talent, discipline, a strong mind and the ability to get back on your feet are pillars that make a great athlete. But more than that, Farah Ann has proven that even under immense scrutiny, she’d still outshine all her competitors by a mile.
“This is my passion and my whole life has been about this sport. If I’m having a bad day, it’s nothing a little ice cream can’t solve, right?” she says. Well, we’re definitely not going to disagree!
What’s the one or two things you do in your training that contributed to your success today?
Discipline and confidence are two very important factors.
What is your choreographing process like?
Most of my routines are choreographed by my coach with suggestions from me according to my capabilities as a gymnast.
How do you bounce back from a bad day in training?
Bad days in training happen to athletes all the time. But there’s nothing a little ice cream or chocolate milk can’t fix.
If you weren’t a gymnast, what would you be?
Probably something along the line of performing arts and drama.
What’s it like to have other people, especially women, look up to you as a role model?
I wouldn’t consider myself as a role model, but I’d be happy and grateful if I was able to inspire a child to purse his or her dreams.
