Local Artist Kide Baharudin Is Releasing A Capsule Collection With Vans
Kide Baharudin is an emerging artist hailing from Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan who expertises in painting on canvas and working with other traditional mediums. He likes to explore the relationship between human and their local culture and history through his artworks. In 2017, he has made a name for himself when he won the Vans Asia Custom Culture competition and has been creating art for House of Vans. Fast forward to 2020, he’s now partnering with the brand for his very first official head-to-toe collection!
The Vans x Kide collection is inspired by the small town and village of his hometown, Kuala Pilah — where the visionary artist brings his paintings to life in the form of clothing and footwear. The motifs of the collection features the artist’s playful take on storytelling, using colourful, hand-painted illustrations of what he has imagined Kuala Pilah to be like in the 1950s and ’60s — while keeping Van’s iconic “Off The Wall” spirit in mind.
The key item of the collection would be the Slip-On SF in Kide classic white/marshmallow colour; where the classic footwear gets an update with sturdy cotton canvas upper, Vans UltraCush sockliner for maximum cushioning and crafted with water-based inks and glues.
Other signature Vans footwear that would be joining the line-up are the Authentic SF and Slide-On, which both styles feature similar artworks from Kide. The Slide-On comes with a moulded PU contoured footbed for all day support and a synthetic leather strap with soft foam backed stretch canvas, suitable for all foot shapes, ensuring maximum comfort.
For clothing and accessories, there’ll be 100% Rayon all-over print camp T-shirt, surf trunk, graphic tee, backpack and two hats. Swipe through to check out the collection!
