The Malaysian Slow Fashion Brands: Meet The Founder Of Hux The Label
It’s kind of a funny story the way @huxthelabel was born. A chance encounter with a complete stranger in London put the idea in motion and the rest was history.
#TeamCLEO chats with founder, Yasmine Patpatia on the importance of slow fashion, reversing the negative environmental impact and why we should start supporting our local artisans.
What is the birth story of Hux, and who are the people behind it?
I decided to start HUX in London around 2 and a half years ago. I was in a high-street store on Oxford Street, London and a lady approached me asking to purchase my handbag. I had found it at a market in India and wasn’t particularly willing to part with it even though she was pretty persistent. A few friends had ridiculed the bag for being a bit odd, but that moment made me realise that there were people who had the same eye as I did and maybe I should start my own brand. It was just a pipe-dream then. I started up the brand online and so far it’s just been me working on it – along with all the incredible artisans I work with of course!
