13 Young GE14 Candidates Under 35 You Need To Know
Candidates nomination day for the 14th General Elections (GE14) took place last Saturday and many fresh new faces were introduced to us.
On 28th April, all potential candidates from each party headed over to nomination centres that were set up by the Election Commission (EC) nationwide to file their nomination papers before the cut-off time at 10am.
As a result, a total of 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats will be contested, except for Sarawak which held its last elections in 2016 and so won’t be having one this year. Candidates have since started campaigning and will continue to do so for 11 days in total until the day before Malaysians will cast their votes on 9th May, next week.
There has been an on-going debate over the placement of young candidates as an attraction to encourage young voters to exercise their rights, whether that’s true or not – it’s important to take note of our latest additions to the candidate list, most of which are first-timers.
