4 Things We Love About The Wedding Of Tunku Tun Aminah And Her Dutchman
Who doesn’t love weddings? Honestly, we look forward to attend anyone’s tear-jerking ceremony to live the fairy tale.
Just yesterday, our very own Princess of Johor, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim tied the knot with Dutchman Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, a recent convert from The Netherlands at the Serene Hill Palace, the royal family’s residence in the Southern City of Johor Bahru.
Here are 4 things we loved about the marriage of the Princess of Johor and Dutchman Dennis Muhammad Abdullah:
Traditions Through & Through
Formerly known as Dennis Verbaas, Dennis Muhammad Abdullah kept with tradition for the wedding ceremony by presenting the Sultan of Johor a dowry worth RM22.50. This amount has been in tradition for a very long time. He requested that the Princess of Johor and her husband-to-be emulate what the late Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail and Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Abdullah wore many years ago as a way of perpetuating Johor’s royal culture and traditions.
The couple was dressed in the iconic Johor traditional ceremonial garments, the Baju Kurung Teluk Belanga and Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga on their wedding day. The Sultan of Johor also requested that Dennis wear the same two brooches on his songkok which the late Sultan Iskandar wore at his wedding.
