Australia Says ‘Yes’ To Same-Sex Marriage, Fairness, Commitment And Love
It’s a g’day to have our faith in humanity restored. To be exact, faith in over 700,000 Australians.
Aside from the weather, one of the hot topics in the land down under was a historic survey regarding same-sex marriage, and according to the results by the Australia Bureau of Statistics, 61.6 percent voted ‘yes’, with every single state and territory recording a majority of ‘yes’ results.
The casting vote was called upon by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, and in a statement at a press conference was quoted as saying: “They [Australians] voted ‘yes’ for fairness, they voted ‘yes’ for commitment, they voted ‘yes’ for love’.”
Turnbull himself had also voted ‘yes’, and expressed hope that the law would officially be implemented before Christmas this year.
Many of our favourite Aussie celebrities, as well as celebs from across the globe, also voiced out their joy on Twitter:
