Charli XCX Is Dropping A Self-Isolation Album — Listen To The First Single Here

“I like the idea that the visual language for this project can be interpreted by however someone feels towards the music. The music and the emotions that are generated guide the creative output and anything is possible.”

“Forever” —  it’s the love you want to feel a lifetime, a memory you’re keeping in your mind, a fleeting feeling that you’d wish last till the end of time.  ‘Forever’ is also the debut track that was released by Charli XCX from her forthcoming album ‘how i’m feeling now’ that’ll be produced completely in self-isolation.

Even if it means to last a lifetime, Forever only took two days to come to life. It was written by Charli herself and co-produced by her, A. G. Cook and BJ Burton which they all worked on remotely. Since self-isolation is the name of the game, they will be continuing to use this same process with the rest of the album with the entirety of the project being written, recorded, produced and released while in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The track is a hopeful one, that is going to be an earworm; think progressive pop with bright, luminous synths that starts off lo-fi and progresses into a beautiful track that makes you hit the repeat (1) button.

“I love you forever even when we’re not together.” What a telling lyric of what we’re currently going through.

As for the single artworks — they were done remotely too and based off a photograph she took at home. (This is all chronicled on Charli’s Insta.)

They were individually created by artists Seth Bogart, Caroline Polachek and Regards Coupables who brought their own style and interpretation to create art that while didn’t involve human touch, still exudes the beauty of collaboration.

ok so i’ve decided to select image number 2 as the basis for the artwork for “Forever”. Thanks everyone for helping me decide 💕 i am really excited to announce that I will be making 3 official artworks for this song and am honored that @sethbogartofficial @carolineplz and @regards_coupables will each be interpreting this photo in their own way to create 3 unique pieces of “Forever” art. Im such a fangirl of all three artists and to collaborate on artwork like this is a new experience for me. I like the idea that the visual language for this project can be interpreted by however someone feels towards the music. The music and the emotions that are generated guide the creative output and anything is possible 🖤 my idea is to be able to auction all the pieces of art created through this album process once the album is release and donate the money to a charity who are actively helping people through this current global pandemic 💓

To coincide with the release of ‘how i’m feeling now’, Charli has announced that she will be reigniting her Beats 1 show, The Candy Shop. The new season, titled ‘Inside The Candy Shop’ will find Charli recording from home, opening out her process live on air while sharing new demos, ideas, and playing songs she loves right now alongside special guests.
