CLEO EATS: A Modern European Affair At Deuce, Publika

The latest addition to Publika’s F&B line-up solves the one true struggle all urbanites of Kuala Lumpur face – picking out a spot to makan. How often have you wasted one hour and gotten hangry just because you didn’t know where to go to eat?

Well, no more, as Deuce has opened up its doors to all foodies (or just the hungry) with a lush al fresco dining experience by their open kitchen bar. Overlooking the night-life strip of Solaris Dutamas, you’re in for one heck of a gastronomical ride.

Dishing out European contemporary cuisine with a slight Asian twist, this flattered our South East Asian tastebuds. Deep Fried Kale really struck a chord with us, as we were surprised by a tangy hit of acar vinaigrette mixed in with nuts.

Deuce founder Tricia Kandiah, who kindly took #TeamCLEO through this food tasting, was delighted to share her personal fave: Pan Seared Snapper immersed in bouillabaisse sauce with a side of shaved fennel, tobiko and Zucchini Fettucine. Our verdict? Exquisite.

Coming in for the title of most dynamic texture was the dish of seasonal mushrooms with truffle mousse and a hidden poached egg in the centre topped off with pine and hazelnut crumble.

Another memorable bite was the Chicken, Corn and Grits that was comprised of a half-chicken brined and charred drizzled with classic gravy and came decorated with pickled baby corn, chicken crackling and creamy grit. Total mouthgasm.

The night ended on a sweet note with their signature dessert of Avocado served with pandan, coconut and glutinous rice. Definitely an acquired taste, but one worth the try!

Couple your meal with over 40 selected labels of wine that are perfect for food pairing or special cocktails like Di’s Gin & Tonic, Russian Mermaid and Smoky Mendoza and you’ve got yourself a robust dinner (between you and bae, or your squad) and one less problem to worry about.
