From Now Until 3 March 2020, Your Traffic Compounds Are Only RM15
Hands up, who knows what it feels like to have overstayed their parking limit (well… or not have paid for your parking in the first place…) or parked on a yellow line, double-parked, or committed a multitude of parking or traffic sins.
In Malaysia it’s hard to not be guilty of these sort of offences especially when we rely so much on our cars that sometimes, it can be quite innocuous — leaving your car for just a few minutes to run into the pharmacy to get something and coming out to see that dreaded saman under your windshield wiper.
Well, we got wind there is a promotion period happening now. All your traffic compounds that you have are only RM15 if you settle it between now and 3 March 2020. Traffic compounds within this period are only RM15 a piece and it’s only applicable to traffic offences within the jurisdiction of JPJ which is in Wilayah Persekutuan.
Here’s a statement from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur’s Facebook page.
Sempena dengan Sambutan Hari Wilayah Persekutuan 2020, DBKL menawarkan kadar khas kompaun untuk kesalahan…
To be clear, here is how you check your summonses on the MyEG website.
(Remember you have to create an account first to be able to log in and check your summons and pay for them.)
Here’s how you log in and take a look around to see how much you owe in summonses:
After registering (or if you have already registered), log in with your username and password.
Once you’re in, click on JPJ and check and pay your summonses under JPJ.
Here’s where you enter your details and your summonses will pop up.
So you can pay online via MyEG too and then rest easy that you don’t have summonses and things owing hanging over your head.
For the record, we don’t think it applies to police summonses (we need to be sure, so don’t quote us on this). This is what shows up when we went into the police summonses portion which is separate to JPJ.
So even though February 2020 has gotten off to a weird start (coronavirus anyone??) at least we know that our wallets won’t take such a big hit. However, you still need to practice safe traffic rules and always be safe when you drive and don’t be unscrupulous when parking (it’s only for your own good!).
