Malaysia — our beloved country that’s rich in diverse culture — and food! We love our historical buildings as much as our food. If you’re looking for a place to call home for a few days, try considering one of these (or maybe all!) local heritage hotels that we’ve curated for a change?

1. Cheong Fatt Tze The Blue Mansion, Penang

Step into the 19th century home of a Chinese business tycoon. Noted as the “Rockefeller of the East”, Cheong Fatt Tze was a successful tradesman who expanded into Penang. His mansion, a glittering gem in the sun with its indigo painted walls, is open for you to stay the night.

Original interiors are restored to its glory and the majestic bedrooms are adorned and furnished with precious heirlooms. A night’s stay comes with a complimentary tour of the house where you’ll learn of the previous master of the mansion and the details of the treasures within its four walls.

The boutique hotel is a mine of endless Instagram locations. Go ham, like me and other guests did below.
(Ps. You might’ve spotted the hotel in the Crazy Rich Asians trailer. Skip to 1:09)

Price: From RM635 onwards

Address: 14, Leith Street, George Town, 10200 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
