Ezra’s assesment: To be totally honest, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book when it was first introduced to me by a friend. It could’ve been his description, but I figured “if it’ll occupy my weekends, why not, right?”.
The book is set 300 years into the future, post apocalyptic, but with an air of old world charm. The communities are divided into the nobles, whose bloodlines were blessed with magical powers that allow them to “burn” and control metals, and skaa, a slave community that have strong superstitions about the mist of the night.
You’ll fall in love with the main character, Vin – a street urchin who had only known abuse her whole life, until an infamous crew leader, Kelsier took her under his wing. He helps to not only discover, but mould her talents as they work on a job that served as a cover for his own political agendas.
Final conclusion – Can’t wait to read the rest of this trilogy! It was super hard for me to out down, as I kept wanting to just find out what happened next?? I was never one for prophecies, but this book deserves a 4/5 nerd ups.
