#TeamCLEO Readers Weigh In On Whether Kylie Jenner Deserved Being Called “Self-Made”
There are many things the Kardashian-Jenner clan can do, and among the main things they are really, really good at is polarising people. Just this week, a baby Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, was revealed to be one of the cream of the crop of America’s money-makers. Sure, we’re all for rooting for women billionaires and for girls who made it to the top, but there was something else.
On the cover, it included mention of the country’s “60 Richest Self-Made Women“. At first glance, you think, “Hey, wait a minute, can we really say Kylie Jenner is a ‘self-made’ woman? Or is she just riding on the coattails of a really famous and super-rich family (seriously, if you don’t know the Kardashians, we applaud you) and a bigger sister, Kim, who arguably, is more deserving of the self-made title?”
It seemed that the answer was not so simple. A #TeamCLEO staffer posted an InstaStory regarding this cover and the results were not as clear cut as was once thought. There were very strong thoughts and support on both camps. The debate was heated. People were divided.
Here, we list out the arguments to see whether it was justified that Kylie Jenner was named a self-made woman. To be honest — we’re torn on the subject too…

yes, because she didn’t whittle it away by partying
“Self-made can mean doing something even though you’re already rich. It’s the fact that you use whatever the resources you have, and work hard to achieve the result. For some it’s easier to get funding, for some it’s harder. You draw the line when you’re a billionaire’s daughter, just don’t do anything, party, and let someone else run the business yet still claim the credit.” — P.T.
