Only amid one of many Banksy’s cleverly contentious works, the Crayola Shooter channels an alarming issue that’s on the rise; child soldiers. The stenciled character portrays a young boy holding a machine gun packed with crayola ammunition. A colorful drawing of flowers and birds surround the black and white stencil of the little boy addressing the loss of childhood in a world of war.

2. Rihanna’s ANTI Cover

What left the world stunned by Rihanna’s Anti album cover was the Braille-covered artwork. The cover illustrates Rihanna as a young child (Robyn Fenty from Barbados) with a crown over her eyes, splattered in a veil of red paint. Roy Nachum, the Israeli-born artist behind the artwork painted the piece as part of his ‘Blind’ series, an installation that largely focuses on the metaphor of ‘opening viewer’s eyes’.

3. Nicole William’s PETA Anti-Leather AD

Model , reality star and animal rights advocate, Nicole Williams, went topless for a good cause in the new Anti-Leather PETA Ad. The ad was a vivid wake-up-call with Nicole striking a painful stare towards the camera as a man peels a giant patch of skin off her bloodied back. Nicole is an avid animal lover who do not own or wear leather goods especially after learning about the gruesome treatment animals are put through in slaughter houses.

Pawel Kuczynski is a Polish born artist who is clever with his way of incorporating art to tackle uprising social issues such as the Pokemon – Go phenomenon. The artwork is named Control and showcases the famous thunder mouse aka Pikachu on a saddle placed on the neck of a boy who’s engrossed on his phone. The logic behind the name Control is rather thought-provoking as it represents the level of control the game has towards it’s users.

5. Taylor Swift’s Memorial Mural

The #KimExposedTaylorParty got global and glorious when a ‘Taylor Swift Memorial Mural’ was plastered on a wall along Hosier Lane in Melbourne. Lush Sux, the artist behind the mural is renowned for gaining inspiration from online public feuds and taking it to the streets – in the form of street art. The mural portrayed a giant portrait of the pop singer following a text which read –In Loving Memory Of Taylor Smith 1989- 2016. However, he cleverly disguised Taylor’s surname with a cursive font that read Taylor Smith to keep him clear off possible allegations.
