The Drama Queen specialises in turning the smallest things into big issues. They turn short meetings into long ones and simple emails into complicated rants. It may or may not usually be issues related to them and their workload, but it always dries up everybody’s energy and time. Beware! The Drama Queen can sometimes disguise themselves as The Gossip Queen, with the intention of causing drama by spreading stories through the grapevine. They may also appear as simply an over-friendly colleague, until the name-dropping begins.
Handle it like a pro: Run. And hide. But that usually doesn’t work if you work directly with them, so the next best thing is to stay out of any drama. In meetings, speak logically and get your point across clearly, then let the big bosses deal with it. It’s also better off to talk to your manager in private about any blown-up issues than to confront the Drama Queen head-on.
