You Should Be Looking For A “Twin Flame” And NOT a Soulmate … Now We’re Curious AF

Our whole lives we’ve been sold the idea of a soul mate. And apparently all of it is a whole load of rubbish.

Okay, well not completely rubbish. But we’ve been fed The Notebook and the idealised form Hollywood romance and all that poppycock. Apparently the ones we should be looking for is our “Twin Flame”.

What is a Twin Flame you ask? Well according to super reputable sources (and by that, we mean the first few sites that pop up after Googling the terms), this is the one person that is for you, and it’s because you’re essentially the same soul residing in two bodies.

We break it down for you for easiest of reference.

What Is A Twin Flame?

A Twin Flame is basically the mirror of your soul appearing in someone else and when you meet them it’s like *mimics explosions*. It’s essentially because your other half of your soul appears in someone else. According to The Law Of Attraction, “It is theorised that a soul can split into two after ascending to a high frequency. Thereafter, the soul lands in two different bodies.”

This Goalcast article also explains, “Basically, this means that two of you are wandering planet Earth. The other you is your twin flame and when you cross paths, you immediately feel as if you’re whole again.” Wow, giddy.

Mind / soul – blown.

According to this Cosmopolitan article, Twin Flames are “two people who were split into different bodies but share the same soul. Twin flames make soul mates look and feel totally disposable in comparison, since they’re like soul mates on crack.”

Can’t wait to get higher?

Meeting Your Twin Flame

So when you finally or have met this person, you will be actually attracted to them like a magnet. There’s an immediate sense of recognition. And it’s because you guys share the same soul – obvi. According to The Law Of Attraction, “When you encounter the person who carries the other half of your energy, it can create a profound and life-altering sense of wholeness.”

Don’t get it twisted, your Twin Flame isn’t going to give you an easy way out or the smoothest ride. Yeah, so if you’re sick of the ups and downs of love, don’t expect that this person is going to give you the best of love.

Because sometimes the best of people or experiences also means kicking you in the butt to make you your best and finest self. According to Goalcast: “A twin flame isn’t about love — it’s about truth. Twin flames can often cause radical personal awakenings for one another because they can see straight through to one another.”

Cara Kovacs, a relationship expert, was quoted in this Cosmopolitan article as twin flames pushing each other to grow. “This totally tracks with the idea that with any growth, there’s a certain degree of tension to be expected. Ultimately, though, through any conflict, twin flame relationships are there to help each person heal,” the article continues.

And the following is a totally quote-worthy explanation of why the Twin Flame will cause you hurt (because with pain there is relief, right?):

“[I]t’s about unearthing dirt from one another so that it can be cleansed — but it hurts like hell to raise that dirt before the cleansing.”

Your Twin Flame Might Not Necessarily Be A Romantic Partner

Okay, this part we’re just a tad bit disappointed. Because of course, we were longing for that The Notebook love. But fret not, it remains that your Twin Flame may not necessarily manifest itself as a romantic partner or life partner, but as a friend or someone else in your life.

But romance is not the ultimate end-game for the Twin Flame, apparently.

Yes, romance is preferable when it comes to finding your twin flame. Falling in love with someone who totally *gets* you sounds pretty nice, right? However, romance doesn’t necessarily have to be the be-all and end-all for twin flames, explains Pat58, a relationship expert and psychic adviser. Think of a soul mate as someone who would fight to the death for you. A twin flame is more about a connection you share with the person who’s largely built on commonalities from your past.

Finally, here’s a list of how it feels to have met your twin flame
